Gochujang Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts






This all time family favorite got a little make over and now they are even better!


1 pound thick cut bacon, cut into thirds

3 cans whole water chestnuts drained


Marinade:

1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup ketchup

1-2 rounded tablespoons Gochujang, depending on how spicy you like it


Equipment :

Toothpicks

Baking sheet lined with parchment paper



  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees

  • Combine the marinade ingredients in a large bowl and stir to combine

  • Add the water chestnuts and toss to coat them

  • Wrap each water chestnut with a third of a slice of bacon and secure the bacon with a toothpick

  • Place them on the parchment lined baking sheet, and brush lightly with the remaining marinade

  • Bake for about 25 minutes, or until the edges of the bacon become dark brown

  • Serve warm or room temperature, I am sure they reheat well, but we have never had leftovers...
